Benefits of Sit-Stand Desks
Sit-Stand Desks Impove Health
The Center for Disease Control (CDC) performed a study on the effectiveness of sit-stand workstations. Employees standing for one additional hour daily (four increments of 15 minutes) reported the following results:
- 87% felt more energized and comfortable at work.
- 75% felt healthier overall
- 62% felt happier
- 33% felt less stressed.
Research has shown that electric height-adjustable desks lead to reduced complaints of musculoskeletal discomfort by an average 62% amongst computer workers.
Another study indicated that varying postures throughout the day, carefully tailored breaks and exercise can reduce back and other pains by over 80%.
Sit-Stand Desks Boost Productivity
Various studies have shown that sit-stand working has a positive impact on the productivity of workers.
Research by the Center for Disease Control and Prevention identified that compared to those who sat throughout the day, 71% of sit-stand workers felt they were more focused, while 66% felt they were more productive.
Another study has shown that varying between sitting and standing increased actual productive output by 42% for office workers.
Is Standing More Productive?
Varying between sitting and standing is proven to be more productive.
In a University research study, participants who sat, compared to sit-stand workers, took an average of 47% more work breaks. Plus, the average duration of these breaks were 56% longer.
The time spent adjusting position to find a comfortable sitting posture and stretching to relieve aches and stiffness also contribute to lost productivity.
